New Zealand Bike Tours
Lonely Planet has voted New Zealand one of the top tourism destinations in the world for the second year running. In addition, the Lonely Planet website also has the following to say about cycling in New Zealand:
"Many travellers describe New Zealand as a cyclists' paradise: it's clean, green, uncrowded and unspoiled..."
Let us help you find out why the South Island of New Zealand is such a premier cycling destination. However, due to the low population density, accommodation can in many parts of NZ be difficult to arrange. With extensive local cycling knowledge and tourism industry contacts, we are able to offer a variety of quality accommodation at competitive prices. All of the accommodation used on ICTNZ bicycle tours has been personally checked by our team for cleanliness, quality and (most importantly) cycle-friendly hosts.
ICTNZ specializes in 'self-guided tours' throughout the South Island of New Zealand. The company arranges accomodation, bike rental and places of interest along the way but you just go for it...
This saves thousands of dollars on the holiday and lets you travel at your own pace, stopping where and when you like.
I highly recommend this option, as guided tours are not necessary, but having the tour laid out for you takes out all the hassles.
Should you be more comfortable with a traditional guided cycle tour, ICTNZ also provides fully guided and vehicle supported tours. 'Fully guided' tours include a guide while 'supported tours'provide transport to carry bags etc. Whatever option you choose, you stay in quality accommodation with all the hassles taken out of the trip so you can enjoy the spectacular scenery that New Zealand has to offer.

Queenstown and Otago This bicycle vacation starts from Christchurch with a gradual warm up with mainly flat riding on the first 2 days as you head through to the quiet country towns of Methven and Geraldine. From Geraldine you tackle some of the moderate hills that follow for the remainder of the trip as you cycle through to the spectacular lakeside town of Tekapo, where many of the scenes for the ‘Lord of the Rings’ were shot. From Tekapo it’s alongside the canals and glacier feed Southern Lakes and through the dramatic landscape of the McKenzie Basin to Queenstown, the Adventure capital of New Zealand. After a rest day in Queenstown you head to Cromwell and onto the historic central Otago Rail trail. On the rail trail you tackle gentle gradient off-road riding through the historic gold and farming towns of Central Otago as you head across dramatic backdrop of the Maniototo Plains. From Middlemarch there is a short bike ride and then a spectacular train ride on the Tairei Gorge Railway to your final destination of Dunedin.
