Monday, 30 June 2008On Saturday, 12 July 2008, Kirroughtree in Dumfries and Galloway, the jewel in the crown of Forestry Commission Scotland's 7stanes mountain bike centers, will play host to the second of the Benromach Three Tens Series of mountain bike endurance events.
Moving forward from the huge success of 10 Under The Ben in May and with just over three weeks to go until 10 At Kirroughtree, Fort W illiam-based No Fuss Events are pleased to report that entries are building and early indications are looking positive for a successful event.
Galloway Forest Park, near Newton Stewart, tucked away in the South West of Scotland, is famous for its stunning sections of fast-flowing, technical singletrack, low gear uphill areas, water crossings, technical ascents and descents, and fire roads. Having proved its reputation in 2007, there is a real excitement in the mountain bike community about the unveiling of the 2008 event route. No Fuss has been working closely with Forestry Commission Scotland to ensure that some new natural sections will make the course even better than last year.
Martin MacDonald, from event organizers No Fuss Events, said: "We initially chose Kirroughtree in 2007 because it has superb event facilities with lots of space but most importantly, it has fantastic trails, giving us huge choices of where to take the competitors. This year, we have even more singletrack and more fantastic natural sections. Everyone in mountain biking knows that Kirroughtree is awesome and we think the 2008 course improvements will move it to the next level. If you own a mountain bike, you need to ride here, it's that simple."
Keith Muir, Forestry Commission Scotland, said: "We've got some of the best year-round trails here, with a range of features that offers something for everyone. We've worked with No Fuss to come up with a challenging, exciting, and varied route and the event promises to be one of the best of the season!"
Both Dumfries and Galloway Council and EventScotland are supporting the event in 2008 with partnership funding in recognition of the fact that Kirroughtree is a top mountain bike destination with excellent event facilities, perfect to host an inclusive mountain bike endurance event that will pull in riders and spectators from all over the UK.
Paul Bush, Chief Operating Officer of EventScotland, said: "We are delighted to work in partnership with Dumfries & Galloway Council to support 10 at Kirroughtree, a key event for the area that promotes the beautiful countryside and the mountain bike offering. This is our first year of support and we are confident that our investment in developing the event's PR campaign will assist in the event's overall growth."
The Benromach Three Tens Series is run on an endurance format with participants riding solo or in relay teams of two, three or four to see who can complete the most laps of a 10-mile course in a grueling 10 hours. The events are not just an out and out race but are meant to be an inclusive and fun challenge for riders of all ages and skill levels. They give all riders over the age of 16, from recreational and elite to off road riders and weekend warriors, an opportunity to get on their bikes, ride great courses with loads of like-minded people and have a good time in a fun and relaxed environment.
Frazer Coupland, from No Fuss Events, added: "Don't worry if you don't look good in Lycra, No Fuss events are all about taking part in a hobby that we all enjoy. Competition is up to the individual. For us, it's more about taking part, riding a great course with loads of like-minded people, and having a good time."
Those riders who enter all three of the Benromach Three Tens events - 10 Under the Ben, 10 at Kirroughtree, and 10 more in Moray - will be eligible to enter the prize draw for the incredible chance to win an all expenses trip for two to New Zealand to take part in the Sport Southlands Moonshine Trail Event.
Riders will have more opportunities to ride another superb endurance course and enjoy the relaxed and good fun that organizers No Fuss bring to their events as the series moves on to Moray. On Saturday, 23 August 2008, the No Fuss Team will set up camp in the North East of Scotland for the final event in the Benromach Three Tens Series. 10 More in Moray is based at Milne's High School in Fochabers and the Ordequish woods provides an excellent environment for racing; the climbs are just enough of a test and the excitement of the singletrack trails, like the Haggis and the Soup Dragon, will put a smile on the face of any off road rider.

Thursday, 26 June 2008The four-year old cycling team of the Pawling Cycle & Sport will host the esteemed Union Vale Road Race in Tymor Park this weekend.
The ninth annual Alec Stall Union Vale Road Race will take place this Sunday, June 29, with races starting at 9 a.m. and going off as late as 1:16 p.m.
Pawling Cycle & Sport cycling team was regarded as an official USA Cycling team this yea r, which according to Kelley, gave them the authority to sponsor official USAC races. Running an event this big is a challenge for the cycling group, but with more than 30 members at present, the team looks forward to the success of the upcoming race.

About Texas 4000 for Cancer
Riders in the Texas 4000 for Cancer raised over 1 million dollars since 2004 to fund cancer research through the American Cancer Society and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Along the 4,500-mile bike ride each year, the cyclists visit with cancer survivors and speak in communities of all sizes to raise awareness about cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. Wednesday, 25 June 2008Ministers of the 2012 Olympic mountain bike event were ridiculed for considering Essex, a county with no mountains, as the venue for the bike event.
According to Plaid Cymru MP Adam Price, Essex does not have mountains - the essential component in mountain biking. Price also said that the venue should be moved from Essex to South Wales. Margam near Port Talbot had "international sta ndard" courses and tracks suitable for the sport.
Since January, London 2012 organizers have been looking for a new venue that would be challenging enough for riders who would participate in the event.

Tuesday, 24 June 2008The Mad Trapper Downhill Mountain Bike Race will be held at the Mountain Bike Park in Panorama Mountain Village on June 29.
The annual Mad Trapper Downhill Mountain Bike Race highlights the festivities on the opening weekend. The Mad Trapper is the third B.C. Cup Race of the year and the first lift-accessed downhill mountain bike race of the season in British Columbia. This season' s competitors should anticipate the Lookout, a trail with tight, twisty segments.
UCI license or a B.C. citizen license is all that one needs to witness the race. If none is available, a one-day license is also being sold.
Registration online is open until June 27, while on-site registration is until June 28 at 5pm. The registration fee is $50 per competitor. This includes a lift pass for June 29.
