THURSDAY, 27 DECEMBER 2007
The Rapid City Parks and the Recreation Advisory Board gave out several awards to recognize the volunteers’ efforts in promoting mountain biking during their December 13 meeting.
One of the said awards distributed was the Volunteer of the Year, which was awarded to Dirk Gustin. He is an active member of the Black Hills Mountain Biking Association. He is also one of the organizers of the first Fat Tire Festival, which was held last May in Rapid City. His contributions to the promotion of mountain biking also include developing new trails and conducting mountain biking classes.
Meanwhile, Tim Rangitsch’s Acme Bicycles was the recipient of the Volunteer Business of the Year award. The company owner was recognized for his efforts in expanding trails as well as mountain biking opportunities in the area through his business website.
