Mountain Bikers Petition at Augustana College
WEDNESDAY, 26 SEPTEMBER 2007
A mountain biker from Augustana College, David Webb started a petition to school's Cabinet to give permission to turn the hilly, stair-filled c campus into a bike race.
Last year, Webb first approached the Cabinet to request permission to use the said area for a bike race. However, the Cabinet turned down Webb’s proposal due to insurance issues as well as lack of support.
According to the college's spokesman Kirby Winn, the school’s main concern is safety and liability. Moreover, Winn added that such event would also require a significant amount of support from the student body.
Meanwhile, Webb began an online petition by uploaded a video on YouTube showing him using the proposed course.
