Top Biker Set To Compete in Beijing Olympics
SATURDAY, 30 JUNE 2007
How can a good biker race and still have great fun?
Perhaps, that’s one of the secrets of award-winning biker Adam Craig. According to him, winning in a cycling race is important for him, however, exploring the trails and the place is also similarly significant for him.
"I definitely couldn’t ask for any better," said Craig. "I’ve kind of decided that’s how I’d try to do something like this. Whenever I’m in a place, most of the other people I’m racing are focused only on the race, but I’m trying to race and have fun, too.”
As a class-A mountain biker, Craig had been to challenging races in different parts of the globe. He had experienced biking in Switzerland, Mont Saint Anne, Quebec, New England, and Beijing, to name a few. In all those places that he’d been to, Craig made sure that he didn’t only race there, rather, he’d also explored the whole place while biking.
"Like in Switzerland when I went and did a big ride up in the mountains, I’m 99 percent sure I’m the only person out of the 250 guys in the race who went and did that because I like exploring.
Aside from seeing the wonderful sights of the different places in the world, Craig has one great career goal for the coming 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He is chosen to be one of the top contenders to represent the United States in Beijing. Craig has four podium finishes during more than three years of full-time riding on the elite World Cup circuit and was destined for Top 10 finishes at the 2005 and 2006 world championships. Aside from that, he’s also the current top American in the 2007 World Cup and even went ahead Todd Wells, Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski, and Jeremiah Bishop.
These things probably prompted the sports organization in the U.S to have Craig represent the country in the Olympics next year.
