Biking Champion Breaks Neck While Skiing
TUESDAY, 23 JANUARY 2007
National mountain biking champion John Fisher is still in intensive care after breaking his neck in a downhill skiing accident at Sierra Summit last Saturday.
Fisher has suffered from a fractured cervical vertebra when he crashed to the bottom of the mountain. He was supposed to meet his family members but unfortunately had a slow-speed crash on his way. He was airlifted to University Medical Center in Fresno where he still remains today.
His brother, Mark, describes Fisher as an expert skier who has been going to Sierra Summit for years. Fisher has already regained movement in his arms but he has lost "feeling" and "movement" in his body. Fisher is a three-time national mountain biking champion.
