GHORBA to Continue Focusing on Trail Building
FRIDAY, 22 DECEMBER 2006
The Greater Houston Area Off-Road Biking Association (GHORBA) will continue to focus on trail building next year.
Construction of trails at Lake Huoston Park is currently being discussed by Houston City officials. Meanwhile, a single track in Burroughs Park in Tomball which measures eight to 10 miles will be constructed next year. GHORBA will receive guidance from trail-building experts in a January visit from the International Mountain Bicycling Association.
This year, GHORBA was able to draw 300 new members mainly through the five GHORBA-sponsored clinics. Trail building projects for the members were also started. Last August, trail work at a section of a new trail in the 200-acre Carl Barton Jr. Park in Conroe began. Ten miles of trails inside the park would also be constructed, according to an agreement with the city.
