Police Shot While Biking Release from the Hospital

Tucson police Lt. Kelly Lane has been released from the hospital after spending more than a month in and out of intensive care. He is still recovering and requires a medical attention, according to Pol ice Department spokeswoman Lt. Vicki Reza

Lane, who was off-duty at the time when the incident happened was shot at the back while mountain biking in Pinal County. Together with his friends they were in Spring Ranch area when they heard a gun shots and shortly thereafter, the vehicle was heading in their direction leaving Lane critical.

Robert Richard Basiliere, 25 of Tucson and Jeremy Thomas Dewitt, 31 from Marana were found and arrested.

The Crater Cruise Third Edition in Parys

South Africa - Parys residents will be swamped by thousand of cyclists from all over the world for the third edition of Colorperss Crater Cruise. More than 4,000 mountain-bikers are expected to join th e race.

The Crater Cruise first started three years ago and was voted as South Africa's Mountain Bike Race of the Year in 2006 Go Biking Cyclist of the Year Awards Banquet. It is set to become the largest multi-terrain bicycling event in the world and also one of the most prestigious races locally.

A prize purse of more than 170,000 is up for grabs on October 14 and 15 for the third edition of Crater Cruise in Parys, South Africa.

Great Wall International Bike Festival

Great Wall International Bike Festival was celebrated last September 23 and 24 in Old Mount, Peking, Beijing which was participated by almost 1,200 professional and amateur athletes.

Three time World Champion and Olympic gold medalist Gunn Rita Dahle of Norway won the competition. Dahle who is a popular mountain biker showed her class as she easily won the mountain bike event as well as the road bike event.

China's top biker, Li Fuyu was able to celebrate his invitation to join the US Discovery Channel team for the next Tour de France in style, by winning the elite race.

A New Plan Bike Trail in Northeast Houston

Houston - A new trail along Halls Bayou is part of the plan to build 80 miles of interconnected bike trails which run through the Calgary Woods Subdivision off Hirsch Road.

Once it is compl eted, the trail along Halls Bayou would measure three miles starting at Hirsch Road and will end near Forest Brook High School. Although nearby residents would enjoy a new bike trail, homeowners near the city of Houston's $7.9 million planned trail doesn't like the idea at all since it will only cause so much traffic which they never experience before.

Christi Brown who is one of the residents in the area said "even though most neighbors are against the idea for the trail, it's something they're willing to accept."

Another Gold for Eleven Year Old Kaitlyn

Harrison County - Kaitlyn Swinford turned eleven today and at an early age she already won a gold medal in mountain biking.

She earned her first award in 2005 and this summer she then agai n won another gold medal in mountain biking at the 2006 Blue Grass State Games. She's been riding for three and one half years and according to her biking is actually fun.

Kaitlyn plans on trying for a third medal next year and would want to compete in more races.
