Cyclists May Face Reduced Access in Montana
MONDAY, 31 JULY 2006
Cyclists may face reduced access to more than 400 miles of single track in Montana's national forests if a proposed forest plan revision would push through.
According to visit www.outdoornewswire.com
, Bitterroot, Flathead, and Lolo National Forests are recommending a new policy that will ban bicycles from trails. These trails include Heart Lake, Monture Creek, Bluejoint Creek, and the Blodgett Canyon.
Presently, bicycles are allowed in road less areas inside the national forests. Outdoornewswire is warning that the US Forest Service will zone the areas as "Recommended Wildernesss" and therefore, ban bicycles, if cyclists would not take action. Outdoornewswire is encouraging mountain biking enthusiasts to tell the US Forest Service that bicycles should not be banned inside the national forests.
