do i need to be heavier to ride better? i'm 19, 6'3, 140lbs. i noticed lately that i can't keep up with my buddies when we all ride together.

Adrenaline - I want to taste it on my lips and smell it in my clothes.

how long have you been riding and how long has it been since you first notice this? could be because you haven't been riding long enough to get the hang of it.

with what you've posted, i conclude (since it was not explicitly said) that you are after improving your strength. simply packing pounds will not help you with that

gaining weight will be greatly beneficial -- downhill just think of it this way, are you more mobile the heavier you get?

If you're going to be crazy, you have to get paid for it or else you're going to be locked up.

yo athorn! you worried me, bro! riding or not riding, 140 lbs for a guy who stands 6'3 is way underweight! you might want to build yourself up!

i agree with dirtball, maybe you haven't got the hang of it. probably you have to ride more than you are doing right now. i also think your underweight for your height.

maria sharapova is 6'2 and she weighs 110lbs. that's the ideal weight for someone a foot and an inch shorter than her but she's a great player. just a thought.

first thing one should learn is how not take part in any violence or smile at the thought of it

i agree with rider! we are 8 riders in the group. We;ve been to very rough ones. Mt.sampora had to be the turning point for all of us. In my case, they beat me to to downhill rides bec they were heavier than i was. But riding up was my creme de la creme. I had already finished a bottle of water while sitting on a bird faced shaped rock on the mountain 5 mins before they arrived. So weight and type of roads matter a lot.

just practice practice practice.. try to bike whenever you can.. if youre comfortable with your weight, then just practice.. if you think your weight have such influence in your pace.. like you can't exert that much effort, then yeah, fatten up a bit.. hehe
