Just wanting to introduce myself . I grew up in Iowa and we as a family have moved to Texas (DFW Area) where my son and I are wanting to get into biking . I know that my son is in good enough shape but I am afraid I am too far out of shape.
I know I need to exercise and I think that mountain biking would make good exercise .
Just wanting to hear some success stories from users that were in the same situation , I am 38 years old. Am I too old to start mountain biking ?
I am also in need of buying a bike and do not want some Wal Mart brand as I heard there is no comparison compared to a good bike shop bike. The problem is that I am able to afford around a $500 bike for me but the god thing is that the boy''s bike is already taken care of.
Any info would greatly be appreciated ,
Sorry for the babbling,
Thanks,
Raz

New to this site but not to MTB's, I am 44 so I have a few years on you, I had let myself go due to the pencil pushing nature of my job, 2 years later and back in the saddle again and it is a different story, more energy, less weight, I have always been big due to the many years in the gym, I wish I would have done it sooner, you are never too old. Definitely skip the Walmart crap, look for a decent second hand bike, most bike nuts keep their ride in A1 condition so you will find one in your budget....
