My son is pushing me to get him involved in Downhill racing. Can anyone give me any information about any aspect of the sport? I am having trouble finding races etc..
We live in Wyoming so I want to get involved with an orginization close by.
Thanks!

he really wants to compete? i mean, why not just try downhill trails? i remember terje haakonsen (one of the greatest snowboarding pioneers), he didn't go to the winter olympics because he doesn't like competition, he excels in the sport not because he wants to be the best among the rest but simply because he loves the sport

i remember this one. he would sort of get pissed whenever someone would ask him why he'd boycott the olympics, he'd always say,'i didn't boycott it, i simply didn't go'

i love that guy. love his principles on the sport. i'd marry him if he's single lucky polynesian lady. it's amazing how low profile he is (at least on the internet), when you google his name, you get the same old articles every time. and he cooks! and he plants! what more could a girl ask for?

Yes he wants to compete. We do frequent downhill tails mainly at Winter Park, CO. He just enjoys racing and I believe it would be a safer and more suited enviorment to be in an organized race on a closed course.

this is not to criticize your parenting skills but i don't encourage the value of competition in my children and yeah i do look up to haakonsen for that. encourage the love for the sport and being the best at it for himself, not for anyone else

It's nice to know that there are still parents who care about their kids' interests and even do research. My dad's upset that I'm into biking and extreme sports just because I'm a girl. Wish he's as supportive as you mccas

more or less, one can really estimate if the hill is manageable to roll down or not. In most cases, its miscalculation. that happens and they run into trees or something. It happened to me and it was a acse of complete stupidity! i didnt push my breaks right away because i was thinking of making a sharp turn without breaking. downhill biking is extremely dangerous!

Figured out late that it was a dumb idea. i collided with jeff and buddy fell in a canal. the worst experience man! i chipped a tooth!
