For almost 30 years, HIND has been known as an original and leading
innovator of technical apparel for athletes, and has continued to define
the industries standards for performance apparel.
In 1974, Gregory Hind, an elite athlete and member of the Cal Poly University
water polo team, founded HIND. Swim accessories were his original and patented
products, followed by competition and active swimwear apparel. These products
provided the basis and foundation for future HIND apparel. His goal was to
provide performance fabrics, quality construction and functional apparel to
athletes at an affordable price.
The use of HIND's innovations in materials, fit and construction features has always
been the foundation for the line's development. From the beginning, consumers have
seen the value and integrity that has made HIND products so famous.
Throughout the 1980's, HIND introduced a number of popular classics that remain in the
line today: the HIND Sportight, the HIND Animal Short and the HIND Munich Tight. This was followed
by the introduction of our DryLete fabric, a cornerstone fabric in the line today.
In 1997, HIND was acquired by parent company Saucony Inc., a manufacturer of technical
running and casual shoes. With their support, HIND has been able to lay the foundation
for its return to the forefront of the technical apparel market.
HIND, over the past few years, has been solidifying its internal assets with an outstanding
employee team and has implemented forward-thinking changes. The direction of the brand has
been evident in the positive changes in many styles and designs. HIND has fulfilled the
aesthetic needs of the market with bold designs, modern colors and spirited prints, targeting
a fashion-savvy, yet technically demanding market. HIND is one of the few brands that effectively
and authentically markets several different categories under one brand. The use of HIND's
innovations in materials, fit and construction features have always been and will remain the
foundation for the line's development.
